Last month Royal Huisman, in association with Northrop & Johnson Asia, hosted the annual Royal Huisman Club Dinner held at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, on January 26th. This was the 5th edition of this legendary annual event in Asia.

Representative for the Asia Pacific Region, Bart Kimman, welcomed guests and introduced the Royal Huisman team which included the Chairman of the Board, Jan Willem Doeksen. 2017 was an exceptional year for Royal Huisman as they delivered two outstanding new luxury sailing yachts: the spectacular 58m / 190 ft yacht Ngoni, designed by Ed Dubois, and the exquisite classic-looking 56m / 184 ft SuperYacht Aquarius, designed by Dijkstra Naval Architects. Two of the best examples of luxury sailing yachts. Ngoni has recently been awarded the prestigious international awards of Best Naval Architecture & Best Exterior Styling Sailing Yacht.

Key note speaker Mani Frers, who is a renowned third generation yacht designer, together with Paul Dielemans from Royal Huisman, introduced the innovative Royal Huisman Pura yacht concept, representing a next level of luxury performance yacht building.

Focusing decades of experience in building super yachts into a new, unique concept, Royal Huisman with its creative partner Mani Frers are proud to present this new yacht, with a length of around 40m/ 130 ft, depending on the shape of the hull. Proven choices with regard to technology, quality of materials and equipment, and production methods ensure high reliability combined with Royal Huisman shore support, fractional ownership and/or charter options.

The Pura yachts are performance oriented and qualify to participate in the great sailing events such as the St. Barths Bucket Regatta and the Palma Superyacht Cup.

As the dinner coincided with the Volvo Ocean Race stop-over in Hong Kong. We welcomed Bouwe Bekking, skipper of Team Brunel, as guest of honor. Bouwe presented a preview of the next leg 6 of the Volvo Ocean Race to Auckland.

The following day some of the guests joined the Royal Huisman team on the water to watch the Hong Kong In-Port Race, with their favorite team taking third place!
